Better Trade Routes for South Africa, BOC Davao discuss potentials for Port being a PhLogistics Hub

Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Davao District Collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino B. Austria receives South Africa Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Bartinah Ntombizodwa Radebe-Netshitenzhe, at the BOC Davao Compound on August 16, 2022 where they discussed matters of better trade facilitation between South Africa and Davao Region.


H.E. Netshitenzhe highlighted South Africa’s potential to import and export goods to and from the Philippines with its infrastructure strategically positioned for vessels to load and unload goods easily. Meanwhile, BOC Davao, led by District Collector Atty. Austria discussed the Port’s capabilities in becoming the premier logistics hub in the country to not only spur economic growth in Davao Region but also decongest some of the major Ports in the Luzon areas.


They also visited its largest partner seaport facility in Panabo City, the Davao International Container Terminal Inc. (DICT), where they discussed the DICT’s current and future expansion projects for better Port services for its clients and stakeholders.


Also, other meeting attendees were Mr. Boiki Phillip Motloung, Counsellor (Political), Embassy of South Africa in the Philippines, and Port of Davao’s Deputy Collector for Assessment, Atty. Vicente V. Yutangco, Deputy Collector for Operations, Atty. Dante A. Maranan.




The Port of Davao extends its gratitude to the Embassy of South Africa to the Philippines and the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) for their continuous support to the BOC Davao’s logistics hub project in achieving the institutions’ common goal to spur economic growth in the Davao Region.
